FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions ~
How does in-home Euthanasia differ from the Vet Clinic?
Euthanasia in the Home
Much like a veterinary clinic I use the same drug protocols for euthanasia, my prices are similar to in clinic euthanasia and I am a registered Veterinarian with the Veterinary Council of NZ upholding their codes of conduct for a veterinarian, however that’s where the similarities end.
So, how does the Soul Vet service differ for the humans’ wellbeing?
One person contact.I am the employer and employee! I am the sole operator of the business so you only have to communicate with me from booking in to the home visit. This takes the stress out of working with multiple people such as receptionists, nurses and veterinarians at a difficult time. It also allows me to understand your needs and expectations on a personal level from the beginning.
Privacy
The home environment allows you to express your feelings in a place where you feel safe to be vulnerable. No reception to walk through, no payment at a reception desk, no form to signs, no nurses or other owners/animals to navigate
Personal Experience
There are no rules. You can have candles and music or the TV on in the background. Whatever works for you and your animal. Euthanasia can be carried out in the garden, on the sofa, your animal’s bed or on your knee. On occasion I have been out to places that mean a lot to the animal that are outside of the home such as on the beach or on one of their favourite walks. This is about me making this time how it needs to be for you and your animal.
For your Animal
- No Stressful travel via vehicle to the Vet - No anxiety or overstimulation often triggered by a vet clinic visit - Familiarity of home - Surrounded by family in the place they feel most comfortable.
